Education: B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and an Executive Certificate in Certified Financial Planning from Duke University
Christopher joined the Modern Wealth team in December 2024 as a financial advisor and portfolio manager. He arrived at Modern Wealth following the acquisition of LFM Wealth Management in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The investment options available to clients and the firm’s breadth of investment experience made Christopher excited to come on board at Modern Wealth.
Christopher became interested in investing in 1987 when the first contemporary global financial crisis (Black Monday) unfolded. Watching all the news coverage made him curious about finding out what happened and why. He enjoyed learning about investing and how people are different when it comes to their investments.
During an 18-year tenure with Trillium Asset Management, Christopher realized that making investments based on environmental, social, and governance issues was how he wanted to invest. The five-plus years he spent at LFM allowed him to merge this style of investing with traditional investing.
Christopher and his wife are navigating life as empty nesters now that their child is in college. He enjoys camping and hiking and is very active in his community.
Christopher is a committee member for First in Families of North Carolina. First in Families is a catalyst for individuals and families to meet self-determined wellness goals by leveraging relationships and resources and encouraging reciprocity in their communities. He previously served on the FIFNC board of directors. Christopher also supports the Red Cross and Samaritan’s Purse.

FAQs
Modern Wealth Management acquired LFM Wealth Management in December 2024. LFM was led by Managing Director Larry McManus, who had been building wealth management practices in the Research Triangle since co-founding TEAM Wealth Investments in 2003. Larry and Senior Advisor Christopher Demetropoulos continue serving their Chapel Hill clients from the same office with the same personalized, fiduciary guidance their clients have trusted, now backed by the full Modern Wealth Advantage.
ESG investing, which stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance, is an investment approach that incorporates factors beyond traditional financial analysis, including a company's environmental practices, labor and social policies, and corporate governance structures. For clients who want their investments to reflect their values, ESG investing allows a portfolio to align with personal priorities while pursuing long-term financial goals.
Senior Advisor Christopher Demetropoulos spent 18 years at Trillium Asset Management, one of the country's leading firms for ESG and impact-oriented investment management. He brings that expertise directly to Chapel Hill clients interested in socially responsible or values-aligned investing. If ESG investing is important to you, your advisor team is equipped to build it into your plan.
Yes. Chapel Hill and Durham are home to the University of North Carolina and Duke University, two of the country's leading research universities, as well as a significant pharmaceutical and biotech community. Many clients in our area are faculty members, researchers, healthcare professionals, or scientists whose financial situations have some distinct characteristics: academic compensation structures, defined benefit pension plans, TIAA retirement accounts, and the financial planning decisions that come with tenure, sabbatical, or institutional transitions. Our advisor team welcomes these conversations and is happy to work through how those specifics fit into a broader financial plan.
A Registered Investment Advisor is a person or firm that provides investment advice and manages portfolios on behalf of clients. RIAs are registered with the SEC or state securities regulators and are held to a fiduciary standard, which requires them to act in the client's best interest and disclose material conflicts of interest. When you work with a Modern Wealth advisor in Chapel Hill, you're working with an RIA whose only job is to help you reach your goals.
Fiduciary is more than a word we use in our marketing. It's a legal standard established under the U.S. Investment Advisers Act of 1940, requiring our advisors to act in your best interest at all times, eliminate or fully disclose any conflicts of interest, and place your goals above everything else. That commitment is foundational to how every advisor on the Modern Wealth Chapell Hills team works. Your goals come first, by law and by commitment.
We believe your investments should support your goals, not the other way around. Your Chapel Hill advisor team builds portfolios aligned with your specific goals and timeline, using a disciplined approach built on low-cost index funds and ETFs, complemented by individual securities where they add real value. For clients interested in ESG or socially responsible investing, we offer an integrated approach that incorporates values-based factors alongside traditional financial analysis. We take only the risk required to help you reach your specific goals and stay connected to your plan as markets and life change.
Our compensation comes directly from you, our client. It never comes from commissions, referral fees, or third-party payments of any kind. That structure ensures your advisor team has one priority: helping you make progress toward your goals. There are no competing incentives and no products we're paid to promote. Your goals are at the center of the advice we provide.

They'll answer your questions about our services and connect you with the right advisor for your needs. We work primarily with individuals and families who have $500,000 or more in investable assets, though we evaluate each situation individually. At minimum, you'll come away with useful perspective, and we think you'll get a clear sense of whether this is the right partnership.
Every client's financial life is different, but the outcomes we work toward are the same across every relationship: to help people enjoy today with confidence for tomorrow, connecting them with the people and causes they care about most. That's what the Modern Wealth Advantage is built to deliver. And it starts with a conversation.
