FAQs

What happened to OFM Wealth?

OFM Wealth became Modern Wealth Management in April 2025. OFM Wealth was built by Sam and Jane Ogrizovich and served families and individuals throughout the Chicago southwest suburbs for many years. Sam, Cris Marik, and the full Orland Park team continue serving their clients from the same location with the same fiduciary commitment their clients have trusted, now backed by the full Modern Wealth Advantage.

Do you specialize in financial planning for women navigating divorce or the loss of a spouse?

Yes, and it’s a specialization that comes from a deeply personal place. Managing Director Cris Marik was inspired to enter this field after her own father’s sudden death, when she helped her mother successfully navigate the financial decisions that come in the aftermath of losing a spouse. In the nearly 30 years since, she has guided both women and men through the financial changes that follow divorce or widowhood, such as account transitions, income reassessment, estate plan revision, investment reallocation, and the process of building a financial plan that reflects your life on your own terms. If you’re going through one of these transitions, you’re not alone, and your advisor team has been through this process with many clients before you.

What financial planning steps are most important after a divorce or the loss of a spouse?

The immediate priorities are different depending on the circumstances, but in general they include updating beneficiary designations on all accounts and insurance policies, retitling accounts that were held jointly, reviewing and revising your estate documents, reassessing your income picture and building a revised budget, and reviewing your insurance coverage as a single person. On the investment side, the portfolio that made sense when you were planning as a couple may need to be restructured for your individual goals, timeline, and risk tolerance. Your Orland Park advisor team will walk through every one of these steps with you, at whatever pace makes sense for your situation.

What is a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA)?

A Registered Investment Advisor is a person or firm that provides investment advice and manages portfolios on behalf of clients. RIAs are registered with the SEC or state securities regulators and are held to a fiduciary standard, which requires them to act in the client's best interest and disclose material conflicts of interest. When you work with a Modern Wealth advisor in Orland Park, you're working with an RIA whose only job is to help you reach your goals.

What does it mean that your advisors are fiduciaries?

Fiduciary is more than a word we use in our marketing. It’s a legal standard established under the U.S. Investment Advisers Act of 1940, requiring our advisors to act in your best interest at all times, eliminate or fully disclose any conflicts of interest, and place your goals above everything else. The Modern Wealth Annapolis team has operated under this standard throughout their careers. Your goals come first, by law and by commitment.

What credentials does the Orland Park team hold?

Managing Director Sam Ogrizovich is a CFP® professional who built OFM Wealth over many years serving Chicagoland clients. Managing Director Cris Marik holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® (CFP®) designations, has been in wealth management since 1997, and earned her degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Lead Advisors Brendan Nuzzo and Matthew Schaap both hold the CFP® professional designation. The team also includes Erica Zambrano, who brings more than 28 years of experience in the investment and wealth management field to client service.

What is your investing philosophy?

We believe your investments should support your goals, not the other way around. Your Orland Park advisor team builds portfolios aligned with your specific goals and timeline, using a disciplined approach built on low-cost index funds and ETFs, complemented by individual securities where they add real value. We work with you to align your investment strategy with your goals, time horizon, and risk tolerance.
