Terry Smith

Terry joined the Modern Wealth team in June 2026. He has built his career at the intersection of IT operations, cybersecurity, compliance, and business leadership. Whether in Terry’s career, personal life, or the businesses he hopes to build, he’s motivated by making an impact, helping others grow, and building something his family can be proud of for generations to come. 

Terry began in technical support and infrastructure operations, where he developed a strong foundation in service delivery, incident management, and leading high performing technical teams in 24×7 environments. Over time, he moved into leadership roles, managing service desks, network operations, and cross functional IT teams, with a focus on improving operational efficiency, customer experience, and team performance. 

Terry then expanded into cybersecurity governance, risk, and compliance, leading initiatives around PCI compliance, vendor risk management, security awareness training, audit readiness, and technology governance. Terry has worked closely with executive leadership, auditors, vendors, and technical teams to strengthen security posture while aligning technology with business goals. 

Throughout his career, Terry has been passionate about building scalable processes, developing people, and creating environments where technology, security, and business strategy work together to drive measurable results. Those experiences ultimately led Terry to pursue opportunities where he could combine operational leadership, strategic thinking, and relationship building in a more client-focused and growth-oriented organization like Modern Wealth Management. 

Terry has always believed that success is built through faith, discipline, relationships, and a willingness to keep growing. Professionally, he has spent his career leading teams, solving complex business and technology challenges, and helping organizations create stronger, more secure, and more efficient operations.  

Outside of his career, Terry enjoys entrepreneurship, technology, personal development, and finding ways to keep challenging himself. He’s passionate about building things that create lasting impact, whether that’s through business, mentorship, or the relationships he invests in every day. 

Terry and his fiancée are currently preparing for one of the biggest chapters of their lives as they plan their wedding and future together. Family has always been a major part of who Terry is. His family has shaped his values, work ethic, and the way he leads others. Terry takes a lot of pride in being someone people can count on, whether that’s at home, in friendships, or in business. 

Terry enjoys anything that challenges him to grow, create, or connect with people. Terry is passionate about technology and entrepreneurship, so a lot of his free time is spent exploring new business ideas, learning about emerging tech, and thinking through ways to turn ideas into something real. He also enjoys personal development, whether that’s reading, listening to podcasts, or studying leadership, mindset, and emotional intelligence. 

Terry enjoys spending quality time with family and close friends, traveling and creating new experiences, and unwinding with music, movies, and anime. He’s also someone who enjoys meaningful conversations, mentoring others, and being around people who push him to think bigger and keep evolving. 

Giving back has always been important to Terry. He’s especially passionate about causes centered around youth mentorship, education, leadership development, and mental health awareness. He believes that when people, especially young men and women, are given the right guidance, support, and opportunities, it can completely change the direction of their lives.  

Terry is a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., which has deepened his commitment to service, brotherhood, scholarship, and community impact. Through that experience, he’s gained an even greater appreciation for mentorship, civic engagement, and helping create opportunities that empower others to grow both personally and professionally.  

Terry is passionate about initiatives that support underserved communities through access to education, technology, career development, and financial literacy. He believes real impact comes from helping people build stronger futures for themselves, their families, and the generations that follow.
