Based in Modern Wealth’s Reston, Virginia office, Edgar joined the team in October 2025 as a senior advisor. He develops financial plans for clients and enjoys Modern Wealth’s fiduciary and holistic approach with its services, which include investments, taxes, estate planning, insurance, and financial planning. Edgar’s career has featured stops in New York City, Hong Kong, and London, but Washington, D.C. is home, and he’s to serve Modern Wealth’s clients in the D.C. area.
Before coming aboard at Modern Wealth, Edgar served as a financial advisor for four years at Bank of America/Merrill Lynch in the D.C. area. The clients he served at BOA/Merrill ranged from hedge fund executives and institutional traders to business owners and foundations. His return to D.C. allowed him to showcase his knowledge of the global markets and geopolitical and macroeconomic trends.
Edgar’s career has also featured stints at The World Bank, UBS, and Friedman, Billings, Ramsey Group, Inc. (FBR). He served as an analyst at The World Bank prior to focusing on institutional sales and trading at UBS and FBR.
Along with being fluent in Spanish, Edgar learned a lot about other cultures from his time working abroad. He continues to enjoy non-work-related travel with his fiancée, Yulia, and future stepson, Sasha. They also enjoy hiking, attending sporting events, visiting museums, and trying new restaurants together. Edgar’s active lifestyle also includes working out and coaching youth football and baseball. Speaking of baseball, Edgar also shares the same name and birthday as MLB Hall of Famer and Seattle Mariners legend Edgar Martinez.
